The red that bears the name of a little donkey. An ancient grape variety from Salento, long left on the sidelines, which today returns to the glass with elegance and softness.

In the Brindisi area of Salento, there is a grape variety with a name that makes you smile: Susumaniello. As the label itself says, the name comes from the little donkey, the "somarello" that worked alongside farmers in these fields for generations. From this comes Sumarone, the red wine from Le Vigne di Sammarco dedicated to this grape.

For a long time, Susumaniello was rarely cultivated and almost forgotten, overshadowed by better-known varieties. Today it is back as a protagonist in bottles like this one: a wine that the winery describes as elegant and balanced, capable of capturing the most authentic sensations and aromas of its land.

On the palate, it promises body, balance, complexity, and persistence, with a velvety sensation that makes it instantly recognizable. It is the wine to open when an important dish arrives at the table, or when you want someone to taste a piece of Salento that you won't find in every wine shop.
